DJUNMILI
Djunmili Yunupingu is an emerging Yolŋu artist and producer, part of a renowned musical lineage that includes iconic acts such as Yothu Yindi, Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu, and East Journey. Carrying forward this powerful legacy, Djunmili is forging his own distinct path as a contemporary music creator.
Born and raised in Adelaide, Djunmili maintains strong cultural and family connections to North-East Arnhem Land, where music is deeply embedded in identity, storytelling, and connection to Country. This foundation continues to inform his creative approach and artistic direction.
Djunmili began producing music at just 13 years old using FL Studio, marking the beginning of his journey into sound production. His work draws across genres, blending contemporary hip hop and R&B with a broad palette of musical influences to create a sound that is both modern and reflective of his roots.
With a passion for storytelling through sound, Djunmili represents a new generation of Indigenous creatives - artists who are not only shaping contemporary Australian music, but also continuing the cultural responsibility of sharing knowledge, identity, and perspective through their work.
